A very rare find and in original un- molested condition

Thames Board Mills SDG

This is a fabulous item and I have never seen one in 20 years of collecting and dealing. As you can see it is in wonderful as found condition. The only thing that has been changed is the handset cord as far as I can see. I have tested the bell with a 9v battery to check it is in working condition and it dongs nicely. I have been told this was probably used in a signal box on a railway line to ask for line clear and to communicate by voice between them. It has a plaque marked "Thames Board Mills SDG" which I believe was a card board and packaging manufacturer. Maybe there was a railway for delivering and exporting the materials etc? Any info would be great thanks. It would be lovely if this made it to a museum but as they rely on donations I suspect not. This is not working or wired up. I have tested the bell will work with a battery but for testing purposes only. This would be a great collectors item or display item in the right house.
