This is a very rare ivory GECoPHONE and this model was used on board the Queen Mary in the first class cabins. I love these telephones and actively search them out from around the world. This is one of the best I have had.
It has no colour staining and a couple of tiny stress cracks in the handset. The mouth piece has a crack which I have highlighted and the cradle has a small black mark in the Bakelite from new. All the other parts are mint. You will see that this is the tropical version and so has the more ornate cradle. I have stripped this telephone down and rebuilt it after each part has been cleaned and polished. It has been fitted with a best quality reproduction hand plaited braided cord, and electronic microphone and a GPO specification round plastic line in cord. I have also fitted a later bell coil to allow it to run on 1 ren and the ring is lovely. I have also fitted new feet as the original rubber ones had perished. It is fully tested to allow incoming calls perfectly. If you want to call out simply lift the handset turn on your digital telephone and dial the number then turn off your digital and away you go. I have found two pictures of a first class cabin on the Queen Mary below.
