This is a very beautiful and rare telephone.  Made by Automatic Telephone Manufacturers Ltd of Liverpool.  From what I have read this was designed jointly by British and American manufactures ATM. This model was used in Portugal and only in metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Oporto and the handset is marked Aptofone. Here in the UK it was used in hull on the Kingston network however this one was not one of those at they had a special metal plaque between the cradle and a small centre plunger.

This is unusual and I have never had one here for sale. It has been stripped down and rebuilt after each part has been cleaned and polished. It has its original ATM dial with its original enamel number face. The mouth piece has a rare chromed insert marked “higicfone” that could be removed cleaned and sterilized and so it may have been used in a hospital etc.  It had crack in the body which has been repaired without any paint and can be cleaned and polished and I can assure you it will not be seen. The handset has a crack from manufacture and some slight browning but I wanted to keep this telephone as original as possible and is not priced as a collector’s item but to be used and loved. This telephone has no internal bell and so I have included a wall mounted BT50E and double socket to allow the proper bell sound.  This telephone took many hours of work and has been fitted with an electronic microphone a very best quality hand plaited reproduction braided handset cord and a Trimphone receiver capsule to improve the reception. It has been fully tested as working and is ready to simply plug in and go.

Not something I get in very often and but I am sure you will agree a very nice and elegant telephone. I would guess at around the 1930-40s but not sure. I can make a dial label with your information at no extra charge.

Postage and packing to any UK mainland address is £20
