This is a beautiful telephone as you can see below. To get larger pictures click magnifying glass on the picture. This telephone has been stripped down and rebuilt after each part has been cleaned and polished. The handset has been changed at some time in its life and is dated 1956 and is a perfect colour match to the body. The telephone is interesting because it was one the first 300 series and was made in 1938 from an acrylic material with a trade name Diakon. The material was not as stable as the the later Acrylic models and was used on all coloured telephones from this period. As you can see it is a fine example and but has some white streaks in the material as photographed. I have also photographed a small faint black inclusion in the material from when it was made. The most interesting thing is the GPO crested drawer that was only fitted to coloured telephone from this period and is unusual to find them still fitted. This one is as good as you will find. I have fitted a best quality all British manufactured hand plaited braided handset cord, an electronic microphone and a GPO specification round plastic line in cord. It also has new GPO specification white plastic feet fitted and a reproduction drawer card. Note the beautiful perfect enamel faced GPO No12 dial. I can make a dial label with your information at no extra charge. Of course this telephone is fully converted, tested and ready to plug in and go.
